Patient Examination and Intervention

Dr. Bohannon has conducted thousands of examinations of sensorimotor status and performance for individuals with acute and chronic diseases, disorders, and problems. Individuals examined  include, but are not limited to those with stroke, Parkinson’s disease, balance and gait disorders, falls, frailty, and general debility. He offers first time, periodic and second opinion examinations. Recommendations and interventions aimed at maximizing or restoring physical function and preventing secondary problems are based on the findings of thorough examinations and/or annual physical status check-ups.

Product Development and Improvement

Dr. Bohannon provides expert opinion on products used by physical therapists for patient examination and intervention. His feedback has been employed in the development of new products and the evaluation of several existing products.

Case Reviews

Dr. Bohannon performs formal case reviews for insurance companies, individuals, and third parties. The reviews involve the examination of records, claims, and (if necessary) patients themselves.

Expert Testimony

Dr. Bohannon has provided expert opinion/testimony for the legal community on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. Cases have involved product liability, malpractice, negligence, wrongful death, and personal injury.

Technical Writing

As the author of several hundred peer-reviewed papers, Dr. Bohannon is accustomed to presenting technical information. He has assisted others in their bringing their research to publication. He has also written/edited descriptions of products and procedures.

Research

Dr. Bohannon has conducted extensive original research, particularly related to tests and measures. He has also performed systematic reviews on a number of topics. He is familiar with statistical packages such as SPSS, Systat, Sample Power, and MedCalc. He has been able to use his experience in these areas to assist others in the design of research, analysis of results, and the summary of findings and available evidence.

Continuing Education

Dr. Bohannon has spoken nationally and internationally on a number of physical therapy related topics. He is available for presentations on topics within his areas of expertise.

Drug Trials

Dr. Bohannon offers advice and training regarding physical performance measures appropriate for establishing the clinical effectiveness of pharmacologic interventions.
